In March of 1994, Attorney Miller put a hugh crack in the wall which separates us in America. He succeeded where many prominent celebrities and powerful organizations failed. He succeeded in having the word "nigger" removed from a major dictionary (Funk&Wagnall's). Attorney Miller is featured in the May 1994 Edition of the Georgia Informer in Macon, Georgia, the August, 2001 edition of a Washington, D.C. Newspaper (the Washington Informer), the August, 2001 edition of the About..Time Magazine(Rochester, New York), the October, 2001 edition of the Macon, Telegraph and is mentioned a July 17, 2002 national AP news article by Gretchen Parker entitled "Baltimore City Council bans use of "N" word."
Attorney Miller argues that the n-word, as used, has no meaning. It is simply profanity. At its worse, the n-word is the ultimate insult. For what ever reason people use it, it is still profanity. Whether being used in a playful manner or a hateful manner, profanity is still profanity. Attorney Miller stresses that profanity should never be acceptable language usage for children. Adults should never fight for the right for children to use profanity.
For the first time in America a non- legislative message was sent that "what was once considered as an accurate and acceptable description of Blacks...is no longer considered as accurate or acceptable. Attorney Miller initiated a movement that is forcing the world to redefine who Black People are. Attorney Miller put a crack in that wall that separates Blacks and Whites in America, but it will take all of us to tear the wall down, even those old soldiers on both sides of the wall whose sole survival depends on that wall standing.
Oprah Winfrey, Bill Cosby and many others have voiced resentment of n-word usage. Efforts are being made nationally to Abolish the N-Word.
