ABOUT ME
Matthew Cruise was born in East Saint Louis, Illinois on May 1, 1935; he grew up endowed with the love of reading and history, especially about the history of his family. He attended Garrison Elementary and Assumption High School. He entered the U.S. Army the same date he was scheduled to graduate from high school. He entered the army as a private and retired twenty years later as a Chief Warrant Officer. During his travels to most of the world, including three separate tours in Vietnam, his thirst for history and education continued, although he did not attain a degree, he immersed himself in the history of mankind. At the age of seventy, with the help of three of his relatives he learned about his great grandfather, James Cruise; realizing that there were many African American who longed to find their ancestors, he wrote his first novel after going to Kenya in 2010 he and his wife Barbara started a
foundation called "Pull Up From Poverty" and have been instrumental in empowering over two thousand woman to own their own business. They are scheduled to go to Kenya on February 26th 2013.
